Employee onboarding checklist
Onboarding starts well before the first day and ends well after the welcome lunch. A new hire needs working tools, clear expectations and people to ask, and those things rarely happen by accident when a manager already has a full week.
This checklist is written for the hiring manager and covers the first 90 days. Legal and tax paperwork differs by country and by contract, so add your own requirements with your HR team or adviser.

Tips
Prepare the tools before day one
A first morning spent waiting for logins sends the wrong message. Test the accounts a few days ahead so that there is time to fix them.
Choose a buddy who is not the manager
New hires hold back some questions from the person who evaluates them. A buddy gives them somewhere to ask.
Keep one copy per person
Copy this checklist for each new hire and adapt it to the role, so that you can see where each person stands and improve the master copy over time.
